In June 2018 the panel met for the sixth time and discussed the topic of “Ethics, Norms, and Public Perception”. The respective report discusses the ethical implications for a regulation of weapons with autonomous functions. It examines the link between human dignity and human control and analyses the implications of deontological and consequentialist ethics for a regulation of LAWS.
The report also includes findings from iPRAW fifth meeting on “LAWS – Risks and Opportunities” of April 2018. Those will be further discussed in iPRAW’s concluding report in fall 2018.
