iPRAW is an independent, interdisciplinary group of scientists working on the issue of robotics in general, and lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS) specifically. It aims at supporting the current debate within the UN CCW with scientifically grounded information and recommendations.

During its first run from 2017 to 2018 iPRAW published five reports. The group will continue its work in 2019 with an ongoing focus on the question of human control and an additional perspective on the challenges of verification and proliferation.

The panel is organized by the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik – The German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) (2017-2018 in cooperation with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory). The German Federal Foreign Office financially supports the panel.
